US State Dept warns foreigners over Kirk posts

Landau said he was "disgusted" that some social media users had sought to justify or downplay the act, and that he had instructed consular officials to take action, without giving specifics.  

He also urged people to report comments by foreigners to him directly so the State Department could "protect the American people," but did not cite any specific cases. 

Kirk, a prominent supporter of US President Donald Trump, was shot in the neck during an outdoor event at Utah Valley University  on Wednesday and died of his injuries. The search for the shooter is ongoing.
