A Royal Australian Air Force air-lifter will fly over Mangalore on the afternoon of Tuesday, August 26.
The C-130J-30 Hercules is from the RAAF Base Richmond and is expected to be spotted from 3.30pm to 4pm.
The medium-sized tactical air-lifter will be used by the RAAF Base Richmond in low-level flying activities.
Members of the base will also conduct flying activities in the Mount Hotham region.
While the noise produced by military aircraft can never be eliminated, Defence is working with communities to reduce the impact of aircraft noise while protecting Australia’s national interests.
Flying activities are conducted within strict safety and operational guidelines.
The C-130J-30 Hercules is used to deliver cargo to airfields with short, unsurfaced runways, and airdrop cargo and paratroops by parachute.
A fleet of 12 C-130J-30 Hercules are operated from RAAF Base Richmond by No. 37 Squadron, and were delivered to the base between 1999 and 2001.
