The Blues were on the end of a 129-point, 27.18 to 7.9, shellacking and a goalkicking clinic from goalsneak Kyle Mueller in the one-sided battle at Congupna in the league’s penultimate home-and-away round.
The former Kyabram and GVL star goalkicker finished the game with 11 goals and best-on-ground status with his dominant display of agility and aerial strength.
He kicked four last-quarter goals in a 10 goals to nil scoreline for the term.
The Blues were never in it against the classiest side in the competition, which is yet to lose a game.
But Tongala skipper Kyle Fitzgerald wasn’t too disappointed with the loss, considering it was a long way from the Blues’ best side.
‘‘I thought we actually finished on top in the centre clearances, but we fell down badly in attack,’’ Fitzgerald said.
Jack Hammond, Bailey Waasdorp, Tristan Watson and Jack Sinclair worked hard in the midfield with Fitzgerald and were Tongala’s best players on the day.
Mitch Fitzgerald in defence also battled hard for the losers.
Tongala will be looking to finish the season on a high note this Saturday when it hosts Mulwala, a side peaking at the right end of the season.
• In the reserves, Tongala went down by 14 points, 9.8 to 7.6.
The Blues led at the end of the first and third periods, but Congupna was able to kick four goals to one in the final term to come away with the result.
• Tonny turned the tables on The Road in the thirds, dominating 18.12 to 0.1 in a 119-point thrashing.
Jedd Turpin booted 15 of the Blues’ 18 majors in a phenomenal scoring display.
