Berrigan Local Health Advisory Committee last week advised the community that the Madill Medical Centre at 1-5 Memorial Place, Berrigan would close temporarily between July 28 and Monday, August 25.
Finley Medical Centre practice manager Sandra Gray said there is no reason for Berrigan residents to worry, confirming that the Madill Centre doctor “is on leave” and that “all of his patients were advised a month in advance”.
The arrangements were shared more publicly last week, with advice on where to seek medical help if required.
Berrigan LHAC said all calls to the Berrigan Medical Centre or the Madill Medical Centre have been diverted to the Finley Medical Centre at 62 Scoullar St, Finley during the leave period.
Residents may also call the Finley Medical Centre directly on 5883 4916 if they need assistance.
Residents are also encouraged to use the HealthAccess Out of Hours GP telehealth service where possible, by calling 1800 272 767.
It is available between the hours of 6pm and 10pm weekdays, and 12pm and 4pm weekends.
The healthdirect service, on 1800 022 222 or at healthdirect.gov.au, also provides free health information and advice 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Callers will be triaged by a nurse initially and directed to the appropriate medical service.
In an emergency, call '000' for an ambulance or attend the Emergency Department at the Berrigan Hospital.
