Deniliquin Local Health Advisory Committee put out the alert, saying Deniliquin Hospital, doctors and pharmacies are reminding people about the measures that contribute to reducing the spread of these diseases and increasing the safety of the whole community.
“They urge people to please stay home when unwell, practice hand hygiene, wear a mask and always cover your mouth when coughing or sneezing,” the alert said.
“If you do need to go to ED, or the doctor or pharmacy, and you are experiencing flu-like symptoms, test yourself for COVID and the flu with the home-testing kit before you go out.
“Ring the surgery to get advice initially. If you do need to attend, ensure the surgery is aware you are infectious so that you are not waiting in the vicinity of other people.”
If attending health or medical facilities, you may be directed to wear a mask.
Vaccinations are available for both diseases and are available through local pharmacies and GP practices.
