Tungamah: W. Thomson, J. Cheek, C. Powell, F. Fletcher, D. Haebich, B. Fitzpatrick.
Tungamah travelled out to Dookie on Saturday and treated the locals to a four-quarter clinic, running out 104-point winners in what was one of their sharpest performances of the season.
The Bears hit the ground running and never let up, controlling the contest from the first bounce.
Ned McKeown, Cheesy Powell, Drew (The Smother King) Haebich and Wally Thomson each helped themselves to four or more snags apiece.
It was an all-you-can-eat buffet up forward, and the boys didn’t leave many crumbs.
Connor Phibbs and Flynn Fletcher were some of those crumbs after kicking a goal each and Jack Connell jagged one too, which now officially pushes him ahead of Al Reilly on the all-time senior goal tally.
One to Jack, Al stays on zero, the stats don’t lie.
Wally Thomson led from the front all day and is well and truly back to his best and was named in the best alongside Josh Cheek, Cheesy Powell, Flynn Fletcher, Drew Haebich and Brandon Fitzpatrick who is now back to Tungamah and the boys are happy to have him after he laid 27 tackles.
The midfield hunted, the forwards finished, and the backline did their job with the sort of discipline not seen later that night.
Speaking of discipline Flynn Fletcher had his number 14 jumper ripped clean off at the start of the game in what we assume was either a tackle or a failed attempt at a WWE audition.
He returned minutes later in jumper number 50, looking like a bloke fresh off the bench in a thirds game.
Didn’t miss a beat, and it feels like number 14 may be in the past for Fletch.
With the scoreboard sorted, attention quickly turned to the Tungamah Ball, which saw a large portion of the club give their best on-field efforts a run for their money off it.
Some say a few boys spent more time dancing than they did chasing kicks and others woke up Sunday with more questions than answers.
Now, with two byes to come, the boys will take a well-earned rest, let the bodies recover, and maybe give the liver a chance to regroup as well.
Expect a few quiet weekends… or a few blokes out of town with their loved ones to gain some brownie points.
Up the Bears.

In the PDFNL’s version of Chicago, the lunchtime legends travelled to the windy town of Dookie, where the wind ruins drop punts, friendships and coaches.
JJ was instrumental yet again despite taking more hits than Mike Tyson against Jake Paul, but kept running like he owed the tax office more than Al Capone.
Al Riley, the former magnet-mover turned magnet-forwards specialist, might’ve created his own job security with a sneaky performance deep in attack.
The vote dispenser himself, Mr C.Jones, was back in the ruck handing them out like he was working the open bar at a tradies Christmas party, not surprisingly Jezza was the main man unwrapping the gifts.
No one enjoys Jezza’s handy work more than Jezza.
Tyler green finally distinguished the difference between the Grippo and the Vaseline jar, clunking plenty this week.
Dimmy collected a new forehead souvenir.
The egg was big enough to claim he had more forehead than patches and would allow him to play state of origin for Tasmania.
Gooba was back from knee rehab and the bloke has never looked in better nic.
Smooth, heart rate not exceeding 70bpm, and still leads like a fridge on wheels with a sixth sense for the goals.
Rangi could be in for a rough week after icing Belly prematurely, reckons there could be a few speeding fines, maybe a raid or an impersonating a coach charge coming his way.
Lach Vering added full back to his resume, officially making him the human Swiss army knife of the comp.
He’s played everywhere but timekeeper.
Special mention to Jack Connell on his first senior game of the season.
He refused to acknowledge any of his former team mates, and was heard stating he didn’t know there was a game before the seniors.
All in all, a good win by a team that’s as well balanced as Al Reily’s diet.
Goals: C. Jones 2, J. Jones 2, J. Reilly, A. Saunders, D. Payne, T. Greene.
Best: J. Jones, J. Kelly, A. Connell, A. Scott, T. Greene.
Thirds
Dookie 7.5: 47 def Tungamah 3.15: 33
The day at Dookie started in trying conditions.
Dookie won the toss and kicked with a strong breeze.
The Thirds worked tirelessly throughout the first quarter to hold back a very strong Dookie outfit.
The first quarter ended with the Bears trailing 13-2.
In the second quarter, the side kicked with the wind and saw more forward entries.
Unfortunately, the sides inaccuracy hurt them as they entered the second half eight points down.
The third quarter was a tight tussle back and forth which rolled into the final quarter. Dookie ended up on top with the Thirds suffering their first loss of the year which will hold them in good stead towards the business end of the season.
Well played boys, chins up.
Goals: J. Walker, L. O'Brien, L. Lonergan.
Awards: X. Chessells, B. Grant, D. Meyers, L. O’Brien.
Fourths
Dookie 5.4: 34 def Tungamah 4.7: 31
The Fourths came out firing and played hard at the ball style footy.
Pax's speed and clean ball skills out of the centre were exceptional, making a significant impact on their play.
Jacob and Chase set the tone for defensive pressure with their brilliant tackling, really leading by example.
In another close match, the Bears unfortunately went down by just three points in the final few minutes.
However, this was the best game the boys have played all year, and there are plenty of positives to take away from it.
Awards: Crusty Loaf - Pax Poll, Intersport Wingates, - Chase Jajoura - Intersport

A Grade
Dookie 38 def by Tungamah 40
The seventh-placed Bears travelled to Dookie for the first time in many years to take on the fourth-placed home side.
Before the game, Liv told Tungamah she’d had a dream that we’d win by two goals—and by the final whistle, that dream had come true.
A Grade got off to a slow start, trailing by four goals at quarter time and facing a tough challenge ahead.
By half-time, the margin had stretched to six, and a strong regroup was needed.
The team came together at the break, clear on what needed to be done.
The Bears are quickly building a reputation for strong third quarters, and this one was no exception.
With excellent communication, trust in one another, and a loud, supportive bench, the side clawed their way back to level the scores by the final break.
Dookie came out firing in the last quarter, pulling ahead by three goals early, but the girls refused to back down.
With seven minutes to go, the defence stepped up, applying intense pressure on the Dookie shooters and disrupting their rhythm.
A Grade took the lead with just a minute left on the clock and held on for a thrilling two-goal win.
Liv’s dream became a reality.
Belief in the group is growing every week, and the side heads into the bye knowing their season is firmly in their own hands.
Awards: Players' Player - Molly Grant, Intersport Wingates - Bella Cavka,Jacyees - Olivia Ford.
B Grade
Dookie 39 def by Tungamah 53
A solid four-quarter performance on the chilly hill of Dookie saw the B Grade girls come away with a convincing 14-goal win.
The side started strong, building a four-goal lead by quarter time.
Clean feeding into the circle and smart ball use helped keep B Grade in control.
The second quarter saw the side grind through a tighter contest.
Some of the momentum was lost, as the side only managed to hold the lead while working to tidy up some forced errors.
The third quarter was the real turning point.
Dominating across the court, B Grade pushed the lead out to nine goals heading into the final term, where they finished strong to seal the game 53–39.
Lauren Miles was exceptional under the post once again, scoring 42 goals.
Her composure and accuracy were key to maintaining scoreboard pressure all game. The defence was on fire.
Tahnee Pearce, with her relentless pressure, came away with a huge nine rebounds and six intercepts in an absolute standout performance.
Add her sister Brodie Gissing into the mix, who picked up four rebounds and five intercepts of her own, a nightmare for Dookie’s attack line.
The centre court worked tirelessly to maintain structure and connection, linking defence to attack with calm control.
All players contributed positively, and even with a few discipline lapses - the game showed our growing consistency, versatility and maturity.
With finals fast approaching, this is exactly the kind of composed, team-first netball we want to keep building on.
Let’s keep the momentum rolling.
Awards: Players Player - Brodie Gissing, Purtle’s - Lauren Miles, One Zach Towel - Tahnee Pearce.
C Grade
Dookie 29 def Tungamah 23
It was like an episode of Top Gear as C Grade flew over the hill into Dookie, ready to make a statement and C Grade sure delivered, even if the scoreboard didn’t fall in their favour this time.
Jorja and Bridie were told they were the front of the backline; no backup, no excuses, and they took that to heart, launching themselves into every contest and giving Dookie’s attackers a nightmare they won’t soon forget.
Jade’s drinking arm may have been taped up and ready for the ball, but that didn’t stop her from causing chaos in wing defence.
She picked off passes like a pro, leaving her opponent wondering if she had secretly cloned herself.
The Under 17 stars Charli, Mads and Chels dazzled once again, bringing energy, speed and serious skill.
Dim and Illa were in fine form through wing attack, feeding the goalers like Robert Irwin does his Crocs; fearless, sharp and wildly entertaining.
Bern was out there doing her best stuntwoman impression she’s heading straight to Hollywood. Bruises and all, she popped back up every time with her signature fire and a grin that said, “I meant to do that.”
In the goal ring, Chloe, Remi and Dan brought the fire.
Going ringa-ding-ding, you’ve got the king.
Keeping Dookie’s defence on their toes and Dan's nan on the edge of her seat.
While we didn't walk away with the win, we walked off the court with our heads high, knowing we'd nearly given Dookie the fright of the season.
The boots are ready, and cowboy hats are packed for the next stop: the Honky Tonk Ball.
Awards: Intersport Wingates – Jade, Miss Dolly – Bern, Players Player – Dan.
C Reserve
Tungamah 29 def Dookie 13
C Reserves first time back at Dookie for a few years, the sun was out but the breeze on the Dookie hill was not pleasant at all.
What was pleasant was the match that unfolded, it was played in great spirits and was well umpired.
Both teams contested everything.
C Reserve heads were helped with a couple of older heads today.
A good win to head into the double bye.
Awards: Tungamah Pub – Dakarrah, Free as a Bird - Alli Courtney, One Zach – Bec, Intersport Wingates – Sharelle, Players Mug – Lisa.
Under 17
Dookie 30 def Tungamah 44
With a couple of girls out holidaying, the Under 17s welcomed back Abbi into the side. Girls started strong taking the lead at the end of the first quarter.
As the game went on, the sides confidence grew to edge nine points in front.
Big team effort today across all four quarters with noticeable improvement in communication compared to previous weeks.
The girls gave it their all—chasing down every ball, slowing the play down at times to play their game, as they secured a win leading into a two-week break.
Thank you, Asha, Chloe, Claire and Torah for supporting the side on the day.
Awards: Tungamah shop – Chelsea, Crusty Loaf - Mads K, Central Murray Bank – Charli, Talk award – Laila.
Under 15
Dookie 27 def by Tungamah 34
The Under 15s team had a slow start, struggling to find rhythm early in the game.
They weren’t as sharp with their leads in the opening quarters, which made it difficult to move the ball cleanly through the court.
Despite this, the team stayed composed and continued to work hard.
As the game progressed, the attacking connections improved.
By the final quarter, the Under 15s lead’s became much stronger and more decisive which allowed the side to control possession.
Defensively, they showed great resilience throughout the match.
Consistent defensive pressure across all thirds kept the opposition under control and created key turnovers that they were able to capitalise on.
The Under 15s led all day, but the real highlight was the determination and fight shown right to the final whistle.
It was a strong team effort and a well-deserved win.
Awards: Bamford Builders – Torah, Crusty Loaf – Asha, Tunga Shop – Sienna.
Under 13
Dookie 3 def Tungamah 25
The girls came out firing against Dookie, putting on a fantastic team performance and taking a strong 25–3 win.
From the first whistle, the team applied intense defensive pressure all over the court, forcing multiple turnovers and converting them into scoring opportunities.
The teamwork on display was exceptional, with each player contributing to the result. Sophie was tireless through the midcourt, constantly presenting and delivering clean passes.
Eliza P was a standout in defence with relentless pressure, while Tayla was on fire in the ring—shooting an incredible 20 of the team’s 25 goals.
The team now looks forward to a well-earned two-week break, heading into the final stretch of the season full of confidence.
Awards: Attwood Builders – Tayla, Tungamah Shop – Sophie, Crusty Loaf – Eliza P
Friday Night Netball Awards: Rich Glen – Sienna & Jade
Under 11s
On top of the cold windy hill of Dookie the Under 11s were eager to take to the court. The girls moved the ball brilliantly down the court with smiles on their faces the whole time.
This game contained some familiar faces on the opposition team as Tungamah had five of them under 9’s step up to help Dookie who were short on numbers.
This saw some siblings paired against each other with the big sisters coming off rattled and the little sisters laughing at their small victories.
All in all a great game, now two weeks off and come back stronger and hungry for more netball.
