Shepparton to Host Key Freight Safety Forum as VTA highlights Regional Industry’s vital role.
The Victorian Transport Association (VTA) has announced that Shepparton will host the first of its 2025 Regional Forums on Wednesday, 16 July, bringing together freight and logistics operators, government agencies, and industry leaders to tackle regional transport issues head-on.
With the theme Reducing the Risk Around Heavy Vehicles, the Shepparton forum will feature key presentations from:
- Transport Accident Commission (TAC)
- Victoria Police
- National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR)
- WorkSafe Victoria
- Transurban
- WHG Telematics
- And more
A special session from the Victorian Waste Management Association will also dive into safety and procurement challenges for regional waste and recycling operators.
VTA CEO Peter Anderson said Shepparton is the perfect launchpad for the 2025 forum series, given the region’s strategic importance in Victoria’s freight network.
“Shepparton is a powerhouse of agriculture, food processing, and logistics,” said Mr Anderson.
“It’s a region that doesn’t just contribute to Victoria’s economy—it sustains it.”
He added that the forum will provide a vital platform for local voices to be heard:
“This is a chance for regional operators to connect, raise concerns, and help shape the future of freight across Victoria.”
While the VTA welcomed recent Victorian Government reforms to reduce red tape and payroll tax, Mr Anderson emphasized the ongoing need for investment in infrastructure.
“Many of Shepparton’s roads and bridges weren’t built for today’s freight demands.
We need smart, targeted investment to make our regional supply chains safer and more productive.”
The event is free to attend, runs from 7am to 11:30am at MOVE, 7723 Goulburn Valley Hwy, and includes a light breakfast and morning tea.
