Round seven of the Goulburn Valley Hockey Association A-grade men’s season had Shepparton Youth Club host Echuca-Moama at Shepparton Regional Hockey Complex.
The Saturday afternoon clash was tight, but eventually, the visitor proved too strong for Shepparton Youth Club, cruising to a 1-3 victory.
Shepparton Youth Club’s Callum Bailey was the sole goal scorer for his side.
Echuca-Moama’s victory was made more impressive given that the last time the two teams faced was on Echuca-Moama’s home pitch and resulted in a five-goal win for Shepparton Youth Club.
It was also Echuca-Moama’s first win for the season.
Seven rounds in and the A-grade ladder order reads Strikers in first, Shepparton Youth Club in second and Echuca-Moama trailing in third.
Next round will have Strikers travel to play Echuca-Moama.
In the Women’s Vic League Two, Mooroopna was drawn against Knox on Saturday for round 10.
The match was held in Melbourne’s east as the home side got on top early.
Mooroopna couldn’t find its flow in attack, while its defenders were under constant threat.
Knox ran away a 4-0 victor to secure its second win of the season and draw level with Mooroopna on the ladder.
This weekend, Mooroopna has the chance to recalibrate with the bye.
