Interleague has captured the region’s interest this week as Goulburn Valley League prepares to defend its crown against the ever-powerful Ovens and Murray this Saturday.
However, reigning Murray Football League premier Congupna is looking to make the most of the bye round in rival Goulburn Valley League’s season and attract a large crowd to watch a top-of-the-table clash.
First-placed — and undefeated — Congupna will be hosting second-placed Cobram at Congupna Recreation Reserve on Saturday in what promises to be one of the matches of the season.
In a bid to make the most of this highly-anticipated clash, Congupna is opening the gates to all Goulburn Valley League club members.
Congupna president Debbie McColl said Saturday’s clash was the perfect opportunity for fans to come and see what the Murray league had to offer.
"This one versus two clash between Congupna and Cobram is shaping up to be a thrilling contest and with the GVFNL league bye this weekend, we want to entice as many people as possible to come out and enjoy it first hand,“ McColl said.
"Congupna has introduced an initiative offering free entry to all GVFNL club membership holders for this Saturday's game.
“Just show your club's membership card at the gate.
“We hope this initiative encourages the community to come out to The Road and enjoy some fantastic football and netball action."
While the netball on display is less top-of-the-table, Congupna will be hoping to make a statement against last-placed Cobram as the Roaders look to make finals in 2025.
The A-grade netball starts at 1.30pm while the senior football begins at 2pm.
