The plaque reads ‘Vietnam 1962-1973. Asian bell tree. Dedicated to those who served. Donated by the Vietnam Veterans’ Association. Lest we forget.’
Goulburn Valley Vietnam Veterans’ Association secretary Peter Dealy said the plaque was discovered at the Numurkah tip by a member of the public who gave it to the Numurkah RSL.
Now he is keen to find where it came from.
“We haven’t got a clue,” he said.
“It’s intriguing us.
“The Asian bell tree part might trigger something in someone’s mind.”
Mr Dealy emailed all the Goulburn Valley Vietnam Veterans’ Association members to see if any of them knew its origins, but has had no luck yet.
The origins of the plaque are a mystery, but Goulburn Valley Vietnam Veterans’ Association secretary Peter Dealy would love to find out where it came from.

Now he is turning to the public to see if anyone knows about it.
The plaque was attached to an upright piece of curved pipe when it was found.
“Someone might happen to know something,” Mr Dealy said.
“There’s been work done by someone somewhere.
“It might have just been thrown on a load (going to the tip).”
Mr Dealy said the plaque looked to be a good one where a bit of money had been spent on it.
Given that it was found in Numurkah, Mr Dealy said there were plans for it to go on display on a wall in the Numurkah RSL.
RSL members would just like to know a bit about its background.
Anyone with information about the origin of the plaque is asked to call Mr Dealy on 0402 350 278.
