Now one of three teams with a perfect record, the Wombats delivered a stellar four-quarter performance to leave the Lions without a hope.
The first quarter was a foreboding sign of things to come, with Lancaster drilling four in the opening term, despite some wayward kicking.
Not only were the Wombats firing inside 50, their defenders were holding it down, limiting Stanhope to a pair of behinds at quarter-time.
The Lions barely built on their first quarter score, adding one before behind before half-time, while Lancaster demonstrated the breadth of its prowess, kicking another four maximums to hold a 57-point lead at the major break.
Despite a more productive third term than the entire first half (1.7) the Lions struggled to peel back any sort of ground from the Wombats, who were rocking and rolling with a staggering 6.4 period of play.
Things went from bad to worse for Stanhope which finished its day with two more behinds to the tally, barely making it out of the double digits.
Meanwhile, the Lancaster deluge continued, having its most dominant kicking display down the stretch, adding 8.3 to its already triple figure score.
The final score was Lancaster 22.19 (151) to Stanhope 1.9 (15).
The 136-point victory was a handy percentage booster for the Wombats, who would be sitting in second if they didn’t have the bye in round two.
Coby O’Neill (4) led the way in front of goal for Lancaster, while Thomas Davies, Cameron Simpson, Shannon Fleming, Blake McAuliffe, Riley Williams and Ryan Hatch found themselves among the side’s best.
The Wombats are in for a bumper contest in round five when they take on fellow high-flyer Shepparton East, while Stanhope will have a fairly even game on its hands when it plays Girgarre.
