A driver was allegedly almost six times the legal alcohol limit when he was stopped by police in Shepparton.
Police say they spotted the silver Toyota HiLux utility driving erratically on Benalla Rd about 9.10pm on Friday, December 29.
Officers intercepted the vehicle on Doyles Rd.
The driver, a 43-year-old man, allegedly recorded a blood alcohol concentration of 0.294.
The man was immediately banned from driving and his vehicle was impounded at a cost of $1056.
He was charged with drink-driving offences and bailed to appear at Shepparton Magistrates’ Court in April.
The interception was part of Operation Roadwise, a statewide road policing operation conducted over Christmas and the new year.
Police are targeting impaired driving, speed, distraction and fatigue in high-risk areas throughout Victoria in an effort to reduce road trauma.
The operation started at 12.01am on Friday, December 15, and runs until 11.59pm on Monday, January 1.
