Communities director Jo Bradshaw said that this was a fantastic initiative ahead of what is predicted to be a long, hot summer.
“We are delighted to be able to provide free access for the community to enjoy this summer,” Ms Bradshaw said.
“The outdoor pools provide both local and visiting families with a space to relax and enjoy the beautiful weather in our region.”
The Echuca War Memorial Aquatic Centre pool will be undergoing painting and minor works from Sunday, December 17 until Monday, January 22, 2024.
During this time the pool will be closed but the gym and group fitness classes will operate as normal.
Pool members will have their memberships paused during this time. All other memberships will have the choice of suspension.
“This is traditionally the time when the Echuca swimming pool is quietest, due to swimming lessons and school bookings not occurring during this time,” Ms Bradshaw said.
“However, this is also the period when Campaspe enjoys fantastic weather so it’s a great opportunity to visit the other towns in our shire and head to the outdoor pools while they are open.”
The Rochester Swimming Pool remains closed due to flood damage.
Council has recently completed community consultation about their aspirations for the future services and location of the Rochester Swimming Pool.
“During these closure periods, Rochester and Echuca residents are encouraged to utilise any of the other outdoor pools around the shire,” Ms Bradshaw said.
The outdoor pools will be open during the school term from 4pm-8pm on weekdays and 1pm-8pm weekends.
During school holidays, the pools are open from 1pm-8pm every day except Christmas Day.
