Gary Glitter pleads not guilty to child sex offences

Former British pop star Paul Gadd, better ‌known by his stage name Gary Glitter, ‌has pleaded not guilty in a London court ‌to eight charges of historic sex offences against a young girl.

The 82-year-old, who rose to fame ‌in the ‌1970s ⁠as a "glam rock" star, is accused of abusing the girl between 1978 and 1981 when she was aged between eight and 11 years old.

Gadd appeared at Southwark ⁠Crown ‌Court by video link from prison and denied four counts of ‌indecent assault, two counts of indecency with a child and two counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl aged under 13.

Prosecutors previously said ‌the alleged offences had taken place at Gadd's home in the Kensington area of London.

Judge Tony Baumgartner adjourned the case for a three-week trial starting on November 22 next year.

Britain's Metropolitan Police previously said the allegations were first reported on January 9 last year and Glitter was interviewed on July 22, 2025 in relation to the investigation.

Glitter was one of the biggest stars of his time, selling 18 million records in five years in the early 1970s and enjoyed transatlantic success with a string of hits including Rock And Roll (Parts One And Two), I'm The Leader Of The Gang (I Am), and Do You Wanna Touch Me.

The glam era was short and, despite a series of comebacks, Glitter's final UK top 40 hit was in 1984 with Another Rock And Roll Christmas.
