Giuseppe (aka Pino, or Nick) Filippone, 57, of Cairns, QLD, passed away peacefully on 05 August 2025 at the Gordonvale Palliative Care Hospital.
Born on 26 April 1968 in Johannesburg, South Africa, to Pietro & Domenica Filippone, Nick lived a fulfilled life filled with travel and a passion for food, particularly Italian cuisine. He grew up in Barrack Heights, Shellharbour, and attended Barrack Heights Primary School before continuing to Warilla High School.
Nick has two children, Deanna and Marco, with Joanna Farrugia. They have since divorced. He also has a son, Matthew, with Amanda Lubcke, and they are divorced.
Nick lived in various places, including Perth, Adelaide, and Cairns. In Adelaide, he worked as a certified barber, where he was admired for his friendly and approachable nature. Nick was a BMW enthusiast and enjoyed exploring various religious traditions, including Buddhism and Christianity. At the time of his death, he was a Roman Catholic.
Nick is survived by his two sons, Marco and Matthew, his daughter Deanna, his brother Vince, his sister Gina, and his father Pietro. We will all miss him dearly.
