RUSSELL, Peter Howarth

Peter Howarth Russell passed away peacefully at home on October 30, 2025, aged 77. A respected and well-known member of the Borough of Queenscliff and the Moorabool communities. Peter made a lasting contribution to both business and public life. He was the proud owner of Russell's Department store in Bacchus Marsh and later continued his passion for local enterprise through Leopold News & Lotto. Deeply committed to his community, Peter served as both councillor and Mayor of Moorabool Shire. and also held a short councillorship with the Borough of Queenscliff. He was an active member of the Rotary and Probus Clubs, embodying the spirit of service throughout his life. Peter shared his late parents, Ron and Joan Russell's, love of travel, and treasured exploring the world alongside his devoted wife, Robyn Russell. He was a loving father to Chris and Mathew Russell, and a cherished "Poppy" to his four grandsons- Charlie. Tommy, Wyatt and Emerson and daughters in law, Renee and Heidi. Peter will be missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilage of knowing him. A memorial service to celebrate Peter's life will be held on Friday, 19 December 2025, at 360Q Restaurant- Queenscliff Harbour, 2 Wharf St E, Queenscliff VIC 3225 @ 1.30pm.
