The family of the late Jim Grebert sadly announces his passing on 30 November 2025, at the age of 102. Jim was a World War II Veteran and former member of the 58/59th Infantry Battalion. Jim served his country in New Guinea and Bougainville. He was a much-loved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather, and a valued member of the Sandgate RSL Sub Branch.
A service to celebrate Jim’s life was held on 8 December 2025 at Pinnaroo Lawn Cemetery and Crematorium, Brisbane.
The family extends sincere gratitude to the community of Townsville; dignitaries; the Australian Defence Force in Townsville; the Premier; local, state and federal representatives; and the Governor of Queensland for recognising the efforts of our World War II veterans during the commemorations and celebrations held this past August. Special thanks to Sgt J. Pearce.
Jim will be sadly missed and forever remembered by his family and friends.
