With scores locked at 42 all in the Goulburn Valley League B-reserve decider and with only seconds remaining on the clock, Walker held the ball ready for Echuca’s centre pass.
Working tirelessly all day the centre had enough in reserve to fire the ball off quickly, with the result a Jordan Townrow goal in the dying seconds to secure the win.
“I kept looking over at the side, the last two minutes felt like it went for 10, it went for so long,” Walker said.
“But we held it together in the end, I knew I had to get that last ball happening and get a score, so we did really well to get that to happen.”
The last-gasp win was highly influenced by Walker, who covered the court with speed and found targets Townrow and Alexandra Hamilton inside the circle at nearly every time of asking.
“It was such a close game, I think we just couldn’t break away and get a really good lead,” Walker said.
“I think that is what grand finals are meant to be about, the two top teams in such a close game.”
Walker also praised her teammates following the win, turning around their finals form to clinch an epic premiership.
“It’s been a really good year, we had a lot of wins,” she said.
“I think we dropped one through the season, but had a bit of a rattly final series and then topped it off with the win in the granny.”
