Tongala will come off a bye this weekend to face ladder-leader Rich River in the second last home-and-away round of the Campaspe playing area’s division one weekend pennant competition.

After beating Rochester by 24 shots on the weekend, winning all three rinks, the Tongala team sits second on the ladder, well clear of third-ranked Mathoura.
The reigning premier has won three successive games leading into the bye, on the back of great form from Steve Hammond and Jarryd Tinning.
Hammond combined with Peter Tinning, Peter O’Brien and Matthew Liverton for a 25-14 win on Saturday and Jarryd Tinning was a one-shot winner on his rink.
On the other rink Brad Tinning maintained his position at the top of the skip’s rankings with as 27-15 win in tandem with David Hester, John Riedell and Barry Tinning.
Tongala’s division two team remains on the edge of the top four, equal on points with fifth-ranked Rochester after losing to second-ranked Moama Steamers on Saturday.
The 18-shot loss has left the team in a difficult position, having matches against the first and third ranked teams in the competition in the final three weeks.
It also faces the team its competing with for a finals spot, Rochester, this weekend at Rochester.
Phil Cooper lost his rink by just one shot, but Steve Usher and Wayne Cowley were beaten soundly on their rinks as Moama won the contest 16-0 (59-51).
Tongala’s division four team had its first win of the season with a 14-shot win against second-bottom side Lockington.
The 43-29 (13-1) win did not see it lift off the bottom, but it is now equal on points with the Lockington combination.
Beth Vistarini led the charge with Bernadette Cowley, Keith Tinning and Ruth Lennie, winning by 14 shots, while Russell Hosking drew his rink.
Next generation: Jarryd Tinning is the fourth-ranked skip in the division one competition, with wins in three of his four matches. The top five skips this season are all from the top two teams, Rich River and Tongala.
