Toc scored 163 in their first innings, and after a strong final session had Katty 2/34 at stumps.
Toc won the toss and decided to bat, but unfortunately lost two early wickets.
Josh Wraight and Andrew Lean then came together and put together a fantastic partnership mixing patience with bits of power.
Wraight managed to carry himself well even with a quad strain limiting his movements. He was eventually caught behind for 42 and the score was 3/106.
Toc lost another quick wicket but Lean and Tom White (17) continued building the score to 134 with some smart batting and good running, getting the side through to tea in a good position with five wickets in hand and 27 overs left.
There was a good start after tea before wickets tumbled and Toc were all out for 163. Lean was top scorer with 75.
For Katamatite D Parnell took 4/28 and was very unlucky to have his hat-trick delivery dropped by a teammate.
This gave Toc 16 overs to get out there and make some inroads into the Katty batting line-up.
Andy Arthur delivered first ball taking the edge of the Katamatite opener to get Toc off to the perfect start.
Arthur and Lachie Brennan kept the pressure on with a great opening spell.
Everyone who had a chance to bowl contributed to keeping things tight, but Arthur bowled particularly well, bowling unchanged at one end to take 2/16 off his eight overs.
It was a great final session and a good afternoon which has set up an exciting second day with Katamatite being 2/34 at stumps.
A big thankyou from the team to Joel Harrison for his great work as sub fielder. He was flawless in the field contributing well to the team.

Toc hosted Cobram in round 13 and cemented their finals berth, scoring the winning runs in less than 30 overs, after the visitors only managed 9/90.
Toc won the toss and send Cobram in to bat, which looked like a good decision when a couple of early wickets fell. Cobram steadied but were not allowed to build a reasonable score, with tight bowling and food fielding.
At drinks Cobram were 3/45, and straight after the break Toc took another wicket and from there it was slow going as Cobram batted out their overs ending up 9/90.
Pick of the bowlers were Sam Bennett 3/11, Lachie McDonald 2/8, Adam Hughes 2/15.
After the break, Toc headed out to bat. After a slow start they were 2/20 after 10 overs and struggling to get away.
Lachie McDonald (47) was joined at the crease by Shaun Goldman (23) and they started to work the ball around and hit the occasional boundary. At drinks Toc were 2/47.
McDonald was out in the 24th over, but had laid the foundations for a win, with Toc scoring the winning runs in the 29 th over.
It was a great win with everyone contributing in some way. This win cemented Toc’s finals birth with a big game this weekend to determine their finishing position.
