With the Tigers renowned as two-day specialists and possessing a penchant for whacking big red-ball scores in Cricket Shepparton’s Haisman Shield, restricting them to a score below 170 would’ve been a great outcome for the Bloods.
But Ramadan Yze and Dwain Vidler had other ideas.
The veterans, arriving at number eight and 11, put another 44 runs on the board and boosted the Tigers’ total to 9-210 at the close of 80 overs, sweetening a day full of starts at Vibert Reserve.

Karramomus celebrate a wicket.
Central Park-St Brendan’s won the toss and elected to grab the stick, though Karramomus was chirping early as Sam Holland snicked behind for two.
Jack McCarten and Tyler Larkin then dug in for the travelling side, pushing the Tigers past 50 before the latter was run out for a hard fought 23 off 83 balls.
Karramomus was able to keep the run rate at a relative crawl, and the Bloods had their second big scalp as McCarten was caught off Zane Newbound’s bowling just seven runs shy of a half century.
Connor Hayes was another to make a start, dismissed on 33, and the Tigers didn’t get much support from the lower middle order as Rhiley Lau and Nate Earl walked for four runs apiece.
As time ticked by, temperature and pressure levels were rising.
And Lachie Keady was about to bring the heat.
The speedster obliterated Mitchell Brett’s stumps on 35, and snagged Thomas Mellington the following ball to get the Bloods’ pumping and have the Tigers at sixes and sevens.
Though the fabled hat-trick didn’t materialise, Keady snared Brendan Scott eight overs later to lock Central Park-St Brendan’s on 9-166 with Vidler the last to bat.
And bat he did.
The Tigers’ final man out of the sheds belted his first ball for four, and continued to post a boundary every over until the end of the innings for a rapid fire 33 not out off 22 balls.
Yze was similarly effective, posting 26 off 44 to set Karramomus a target of 211 for victory on day two.
Keady was the Bloods’ most effective with ball in hand, taking 3-47 while Newbound (2-27) and Bailey Simpson (2-72) also getting in on the action.
