Gun Lakers batter Zac Winter-Irving took over the coaching reins from star all-rounder Mark Nolan at Nagambie for the 2024-25 season.
The switch in leadership proved to be a masterstroke as Winter-Irving and Nolan (as captain) guided Nagambie to grand final appearances in the one-day and two-day competitions.
Winter-Irving will once again coach the Lakers this summer as the side prepares to launch a premiership redemption run across both formats.
The one-day decider against Central Park-St Brendan’s was a bloodbath as Nagambie was skittled for 42, before having its target chased down in 11.1 overs.
However, the much more coveted Haisman Shield final went down to the wire as Nagambie battled Waaia at Katandra.
The Lakers fell to the Bombers in the dying light of the final day’s play having given it their all to bring a maiden two-day title back to the clubrooms.
Nagambie and Winter-Irving will be holding out great hope that the side can once again clamber through the Cricket Shepparton obstacle course and reach the summit this summer.
Winter-Irving’s team will be looking to retain its plethora of talent after the impact that Mitch Winter-Irving, Mark and Luke Nolan and Brayden Biggs had across the 2024-25 season.
Add in potential growth from the likes of James Auld and Xavier Arandt and the Lakers are looking primed for another deep March run.
Nagambie’s senior women’s side announced it would have co-coaches for the 2025-26 season.
Kayla Snelling and Blair Taylor-Lloyd will co-coach the Lakers in the Goulburn Murray Cricket competition.
The senior women's 2024-25 season also ended in heartbreak as they lost to Mooroopna in the grand final.
The Lakers had finished second at the end of the home and away fixtures.
