Wayne joined the club earlier this year after relocating from Melbourne and has quickly acclimatised to both our tables and club environment.
Congratulations to Wayne and Ian on their excellent performances throughout the event.
The Club Doubles Championship was also decided in November, with Darren and Jake Thompson defeating Heie Hansen and Ian Irvine in the final on 17 November.
Darren and Jake are multiple winners of this title, while Heie and Ian performed admirably in their first final together.
The annual Directors Challenge, an event in which club members formally acknowledge the ongoing support of ClubMulwala, was held on Monday and proved to be a thoroughly enjoyable evening for all involved.
We are extremely grateful for ClubMulwala’s continued support of our club and the sport of snooker, and we have little doubt we are the envy of many other clubs.
Wayne Rogers and Michael Barclay defeated Ashley Nicholls and Kevin Young in the final, although there may be some debate as to whose names are engraved on the trophy due to Darren Edwards’ unavailability for the deciding frame.
Wednesday evening social events continued throughout November and will run through the summer period.
Results saw Wayne Rogers defeat Craig Jordan on 12 November, Dave Arzuhaldzic get the chocolates over Dan Youn on 19 November, and Wayne Rogers continue his red-hot form with a win over Darren Edwards on 26 November.
ClubMulwala Snooker Club wrapped up the 2025 season at its annual Christmas celebration and presentation night on 30 November.
Thanks to the efforts of the ClubMulwala catering and hospitality staff, members enjoyed an excellent evening of fine dining, laughter and celebration of the year that was.
It was also pleasing to welcome former club president, committee member and player Hans Lang, along with his partner Angela.
Winners of club events were presented with the spoils of their victories, with many notable achievements recognised.
Among the many noteworthy efforts during the year, and by no means an exhaustive list, were:
Craig Jordan winning the 2025 Player of the Year award in his first full season of competition.
Adrian Ridley being selected in Australian and Victorian representative teams.
Mia Macheda entering the top ten rankings of Australian female players and earning selection in both State and National teams.
Shirley Ridley, Samantha Ridley and Mia Macheda competing in the Australian Women’s Championship and most likely becoming the first mother, daughter and granddaughter trio to do so.
Michael Barclay achieving a first-ever 100% player participation rate during the 2025 season.
Wayne Rogers’ outstanding performances after joining midway through the year, including winning the 2025 Spit the Dummy Award among several other titles.
The recent reclothing and upgrading of our tables, made possible by ClubMulwala.
Increased player numbers and a higher volume of competitive matches throughout the season.
Jason Bassett’s very wise decision to defer the Blues premiership tattoo for another year.
Future Champions, brother and sister combination Mia and Luca Macheda.

On a more reflective note, the committee and members of ClubMulwala Snooker Club formally recognised the dedication and commitment of long-serving president Darren Thompson by naming our number one table the ClubMulwala Snooker Club Darren Thompson Table.
A plaque, now proudly displayed in the snooker room, was presented to Darren at the conclusion of the end-of-year function. Thanks to the efforts of club members and family, Darren and his wife Lisa were completely surprised by the honour.
To say Darren’s contribution to the club has been outstanding is stating the obvious, and his selfless commitment continues to be deeply appreciated by all.
A summary of 2025 event winners and finalists conclude, another successful year. Sincere thanks go to ClubMulwala for its ongoing support and sponsorship, the Yarrawonga Chronicle for publicising our results, Shirley Ridley for managing our Facebook page, and all members for continuing to make our club such a fantastic place to enjoy good company and the game of snooker.
