Shepparton’s star boy has inked a move that will have him depart English Premier League club Newcastle United, ending the 20-year-old’s time on Tyneside after first joining in January 2023.
Kuol has signed a permanent long-term deal at Czech giant Sparta Prague for an undisclosed fee, with the length of his contract not yet publicised.
It comes as the Shepparton prodigy seeks a fresh chapter.
Kuol endured two turbulent loan spells in Scotland and the Netherlands while contracted to Newcastle before returning to impress for the Magpies’ under-21s.
But with no apparent future with Newcastle’s first team in sight and regular senior action needed for Kuol to be in the conversation for Australia’s 2026 FIFA World Cup tilt, the young winger needed a change.
Enter Sparta Prague, freighted with optimism and familiar faces.
Diarmuid O’Carroll, Kuol’s former Newcastle under-21 coach is now stationed in the Czech Republic with Sparta Prague, is ready to work with him and turn Kuol from a raw gem in to the finished item.
Sparta Prague interim sporting director Tomáš Sivok was excited to welcome Kuol to Stadion Letná.
“Garang is a talented winger who, despite his age, already brings plenty of experience,” he said.
“He made the move from Australia to Newcastle, played in both the Scottish and Dutch leagues, and even appeared at the World Cup in Qatar at a very young age.
“We were impressed by his pace, his ability to operate on both sides of the pitch, and above all, his courage in one-on-one situations. We see great potential for growth in him.
“At the same time, it’s important that he is given enough time to adapt, get used to the environment and the style of Czech football, and gradually integrate into the team.”
Sparta Prague currently sits top of the Czech First League with five wins and a draw from six games.
Kuol enters the fold off the back of an impressive season for Newcastle’s under-21s in the Premier League Two, scoring five goals and registering four assists in 10 games.
