The Shepparton product and current Tigers senior coach penned a two-year contract extension recently, keeping him at Punt Road Oval until at least the end of the 2028 season.
Yze, a Shepparton United junior and 271-game star for Melbourne, started his coaching journey at Hawthorn under Alistair Clarkson before joining his former AFL side as an assistant.
There, he played a crucial role with Simon Goodwin in the Demons’ charge to the 2021 premiership, the club’s first flag in 57 years.
Yze then departed his role as Melbourne’s assistant leader to replace Damien Hardwick as Richmond’s senior coach in September 2023.
In the years since, he has overseen a major rebuilding phase at Tigerland.
Richmond finished bottom of the pack in Yze’s first season, scoring two wins, but this year brought a marked improvement as the Tigers leapt to five wins with the second youngest average age of any AFL list (24.7).
Richmond chief executive Shane Dunne said the club’s board had full faith in Yze and the direction he was steering the playing group.
“Adem is a highly-driven coach who is crystal clear with his plans, communication and expectations of how he wants the game to be played,” he said.
“He has elite personal qualities, has built strong relationships over the past two years and has a shared hunger for success with the playing group.
“Adem’s excellent understanding of AFL strategy and his sharp knowledge of the game are major assets and they will continue to shine in the coming years.
“We are really excited about what is to come and look forward to seeing Adem continue to lead the group and this club into our next period of AFL success.”
Yze isn’t the only Goulburn Valley link at Richmond, with Mooroopna’s Tom Brown shaping as an emerging defender following a 23-game 2025 season.
