Watt has prospered during the Bombers’ 8-0 run to start the season and his hard-running and slick ball use has been a feature of his game.
The 19-year-old has been drawn to other football commitments in the past four years, including nine games with Bendigo Pioneers in 2024, Xavier College and even a one-off game for Oakleigh Chargers.
Now, a clear run at the senior level for his home club has made 2025 Watt’s most “enjoyable” season to date.
“For me, I feel like this is the most enjoyable season,” Watt said.
“I’ve been away at boarding school and playing school footy, under-18 representative footy, I feel like just getting back to the local club … helped me to grow a bit of confidence with my footy and try and build some form.
“It probably helps we've had some team success.”
Watt torched reigning premier Echuca (30 disposals, nine marks, three goals) and Mooroopna (34 disposals, six clearances, and eight marks) in back-to-back wins, showcasing his goal-scoring as well with 13 majors for the season.
He also threw on the GVL jumper, where he was one of the few bright sparks for the soundly beaten interleague side.
Watt, a member of the 2023 grand final team, will be a key part of a “structured” Ky set-up as it aims for its first flag since 2019.
“We did a bit of recruiting over the pre-season; we picked up a few boys and got some local boys back,” he said.
“We went through our planning together and got some really good structures set in place.”
