McEwen Reserve Green got on the court to secure a strong win over Bunbartha on its home turf, running away with a 7-46 to 2-20 win.
Some Kellie Crosier and Megan Carr heroics kept Bunbartha in the fight, after a lethal combination of Brock O’Hara and Geoff and Murray Akers cruised through their opening three matches in resounding fashion.
O’Hara combined with Meredith Chillman for a blowout in the final doubles rubber to put the icing on the cake in their team’s win.
A full complement of games went ahead in the A2 division, with McEwen Reserve and Shepparton North going toe-to-toe in a nail-biting contest on North’s home turf.
It was a neck-and-neck contest for the entire match, with early momentum swinging the way of McEwen Reserve through wins to James Cocca and Henry Reith in their doubles contests.
John and Chris Kriesfeld, along with Kate Taylor and Maya Clarke, rallied in the following two doubles rubbers to put North back in contention with 6-2 victories.
A win in the final set to Reith and Carley Catalano allowed Reserve to escape with the narrowest of wins, the last set the difference after it couldn't be separated on games, 5-42 to 4-42 the final score.
A solid victory to first-placed Karramomus and a slight upset which went the way of Central Park over St Andrew’s rounded out the results.
