One draw, two games decided by three shots or less and a statement victory underpinned a blistering round 12, completed before temperatures reached 44°C across the Goulburn Valley.
East Shepparton was on fire, almost causing an upset against Seymour.
Bottom side East stole a 22-15 triumph in rink one thanks to Don Dickinson’s four, backed up by Kelvin Beacon’s quartet snaring a 22-19 second rink victory.
But fourth-ranked Seymour was able to pull things back in the third set of ends, Max Hammond and company saluting by 10 shots to draw things square at 60-apiece – though East emerged with two extra rink points.
From one nerve-jangler to another, Shepparton Park versus Tallygaroopna was an all-timer.
Park took first rink spoils 21-20 before the Redlegs bit back by three shots in the second and, though Carla Miles and Noel Halden’s quartets couldn’t be separated in rink three, Tallygaroopna walked off with a narrow 13-61 to 3-59 result.
Elsewhere, Shepparton Golf held its post at the top – but only just.
The ladder leader took on Tatura-Hill Top and looked sharp in two out of three rinks, winning by margins of 12 and 13 shots, but the Bulldogs almost whisked the rug away.
A barnstorming second set of ends saw Rod Madill’s four return a 30-8 win, though Golf was able to walk away largely unscathed with a 14-64 to 2-61 victory banked.
Finally, Euroa continued its ascent toward the summit, defeating Seymour VRI 14-65 to 2-51.
