Cats 7.3.45, Beechworth 20.15.135
A massive boost was the return of Indhi Kotzur from the Murray Bushrangers, and his improvement was there for all to see, not only was his tap work first class his work around the ground was immense with the onballers in Jack and Brad Andison and Tommy Allison reaping the rewards.
Ben Pleming appears to be overcoming his late start from injury and is now working into the season nicely playing both forward and back. Bennet Thomas has also strung some good performances together playing fullback, while Bennet maybe the slowest in the club his determination makes up for his lack of second, third and fourth gears. All this gave the Cats their chances with extended periods of dominance however for little reward, the longer the game went Beechworth gradually gained more control and ran out easy winners. The most embarrassing aspect of the day was the attempt of the three Andison boys at looking older with some poor looking moustaches, facial hair growth should be started in the off season and not midway through the season.
Awards; Complete Body Craft Mug – Ben Pleming, Rutherglen Butchery – Indhi Kotzur, Baker Seed – Jack Andison.
Reserves
Cats 2.5. 17, Beechworth 12.7.79
A few old blokes out and a few younger players in made for a better standard of football, Duane Moloney has been pushed into forced retirement, Jono Keys banished to the football wilderness and Dennis Watson to the operating theatre. In came Harrison, Scholes, Nicholson and Caleb Waycott for his first foray into the adult game, Caleb didn’t look out of place and a long senior career is expected. Matt Andison was given a reprieve from the terrible performance of the previous game and must be running out of credits. The club is looking at the future and Lenny Hill is showing the way with strong performances after strong performances, Olie Noble is also racking up some very good games along with Brad Wilson and Bailey Scholes. Damien “the Moose” Thorpe has showed his improvement from the senior experience of previous weeks. Interesting fact, the 2xl jumper of Duane Moloney is the same cost of the small jumper of Ethan Marquison-McKenzie who was welcomed back from injury for his first game of the year.
Awards; Winslow Civil Mug – Ollie Noble, Silverkey Café Yeti – Ben Nicholson, Rutherglen Pizza – Lenny Hill.

With only one game in three weeks a slow start was expected and so it turned out, the lads gradually blew the cobwebs out the longer the game went on. Luke Nicholson racked up possessions for fun through the midfield and was well supported by Rory Beattie and Judd Kuschert while Mitch Francis is continuing his strong season on the wing. Caleb Waycott has realised that handballing also counts as a possession and his game has improved considerably since this realisation, Charlie James was strong off the halfback line and is building nicely. A big welcome back to Tom Ford after a layoff with a broken arm, Tom didn’t miss a beat all day.
Awards; Silver Key Café – Luke Nicholson, EDC Cash – Caleb Waycott, Rutherglen Pizza – Declan Thompson, Ford Family Play of the Day – Judd Kuschert, Flashes Five – Charlie James.

Another tough day against a very good side which leaves the Cats with the three losses to the only sides that sit above them on the ladder, the cats had their chances to put pressure on the opposition in scoreboard pressure however either missed some opportunities or couldn’t maintain the pressure for long enough periods. Aiden Waycott had his best game playing in the ruck with some determined efforts and big marks while Flynn Verhulst continued to rack up some big numbers in a best on performance, again. Logan Poole was once again very good with his work ethic and clean hands, Liam Colvin is developing nicely with more mid field time and Lucas Zani was strong down back repelling many forward forays from Beechworth. Harry Chandler continued his good form, unfortunately Harry and brother Max are off overseas on the forbidden holiday during footy season with their parents, one can only imagine that Mark and Renee were also wed during footy season.
Awards; Corowa Sports Power – Liam Colvin, Rutherglen Pizza – Aiden Waycott, Silver Key Café – Harry Chandler, Coaches Cash – Logan Poole.

A great first half set up the win, the ability to push the ball forward at all costs was most pleasing along with the one-percenters which was on show for the entire game. Beechworth hit back in the third quarter to take the momentum into the last however the young Cats with some big tackles and determination controlled the last to run out winners by fifteen points.
Cats 3.7, Beechworth 1.3

A strong first quarter which was maintained into the second had the side in a good position leading into the long break however the inability to consistently get their shots in proved the difference between the two sides. The defence held strong all game and created plenty of opportunities.
Awards; Star Hotel Mug – Jess Oats, Baker Seed Yeti – Grace Watson-Long.

Cats 17, Beechworth 54.
A good overall performance with a strong last quarter wasn’t enough for the depleted Cats side to take the points. The girls were tried in various positions and will be better for the run.

A thriller of game with a single goal the difference, the defensive pressure from Steph Shaw kept the Cats in the contest while Maiya Lea had intercept after intercept. The midcourt of Faith O’Donoghue and Lucy Jacka worked well in pushing the ball forward to shooters Grace Milthorpe while Alexandra Gniel who proved that she is the long bomb specialist and brought up her 100th goal of the year.
Awards; Slopes Cash – Grace Milthorpe and Steph Shaw.

A fantastic game by the young Cats with a large win, midcourt worked well with Clodagh Way and Kaity Ford continually working well together, tiny Harriet Way with her first foray forward was also good with her first goals of the year. The defence of Holly O’Donoghue, Taylor Meyer and Issy Claessens was strong with intercepts for fun.
