On Thursday morning, the PDFNL jumped ahead of the pack and became the first of the wider Goulburn Murray region’s leagues to release an approved fixture for next season.
To cut the ribbon on the season, the competition has gone back to a familiar format.
Though the 2025 PDFNL draw deviated from its usual trend and began with a full suite of games in round one, the 2026 season opener will consist of a Good Friday clash between Tocumwal and Berrigan on April 3.
Next year’s season will also feature a slate of twilight/evening night matches in the senior football and A-grade netball, kicking off when Rennie hosts Waaia on Anzac Day, while the rest of the clubs will play on the Sunday after.
Fans will have to bide their time for their first grand final rematch, though.
That will occur in round 13 (June 27) when Deniliquin Rovers welcome Katandra back to Memorial Park for a repeat of this year’s A-grade decider.
A general bye follows the week after, and in the following fortnight, Waaia has its chance to get revenge against senior football reigning premier Katamatite when the Tigers roll into town in round 15.
The 18-round home and away season concludes on August 8 - and it finishes with a bang, too.
Tungamah faces Katamatite, Dookie United hosts Katandra and Waaia welcomes Strathmerton in a Victorian showdown to round out the campaign, with potential post-season credentials on the line in the closer.
A finals fixture is yet to be released.
