The score was 2-2 at full-time and the same after extra time.
As other games finished, a big crowd was enthralled by the shoot-out. In a fluky wind and with agile goalkeepers flying, about 11 straight penalties were saved or missed until Kyabram nailed one. Actually there were 13 taken but even the penalty disallowed because the keeper came off his line was saved.
Final score 1-0 on a day out for goalkeepers.
As an old protector of the ‘onion bag’ from way back, Oddie was happy to see the usual script flipped.
Eye-catching advertisement for bowls
Nagambie Bowls Club has an eye-catching new ride thanks to a local real estate agent.
Seymour’s A Little Birdie Told Me is sponsoring the club and has wrapped the club’s bowls bus.
Officer manager Janice Mills said A Little Birdie Told Me was proud to be supporting the club.
“Nagambie Bowls Club is a great local club and very community-minded. Local clubs rely on volunteers and need support from business,” she said.
“We’re very happy to be in a position to help out and are loving seeing the bus getting around the region.
“The yellow is very eye-catching and I’m sure will be a talking point as it gets to bowls events around the Goulburn Valley.”
Although a resident of the GV, Oddie must admit to not initially recognising the name of the Seymour real estate agent — sending this scribe to the World Wide Web to look it up.
In doing so, we participated in exactly the process a good advertisement should encourage — an initial interest coupled with a direct follow-up.
A tip of the hat to whoever came up with the idea.
