The club will host competitors across the Australia Day long weekend on January 24-25, with organisers confident the 95th edition will be another success.
Nick Ludington has assumed tournament director duties, while father David continues to help sculpt the popular on-court experience.
David explained what makes the tournament attractive to tennis players from across the region, including the round-robin format that allows more game-time.
“Entries are coming along, but obviously the more the merrier,” Ludington said.
“It’s our 95th running, so only got another five before we crack up 100 - might have to do something a bit special for that one.
“As is the case, ours is a bit more of a casual, laid-back tournament; It’s a round-robin, so you don’t come all the way up and just get knocked out in the first round, you get a few hits.
“The courts are in good nick, we’ll have a bit of an atmosphere going, and we’re just hoping for the more the merrier.”
Junior singles age groups include under-12, under-14, and under-16 brackets, while the men and women’s tournament include two grades each.
Singles and mixed doubles will be played on the Saturday, before the men’s and women’s doubles round out the action on Sunday.
The tournament’s appeal spreads far and wide, and Ludington said the club has seen an uptick in Melbourne entries.
“We’ve had quite a few Melbourne entries; I think it’s a bit of a novelty, people in Melbourne don’t get to play on grass much,” he said.
“They reckon its fantastic to get up here and play grass courts, and ours are probably as good as any getting around at the moment.
“Hopefully, the weather will be kind to us and we’ll get some good numbers.”
Entries close on Wednesday, January 21.
