The ever reliable forward forged yet another booming tally of goals to tick over her latest career milestone in Nathalia’s win over Rumbalara in round 14 of the GMWGL.
Favaro kicks bags for fun though, so it’s no surprise her latest milestone was amid a seven-goal haul.
Finishing second in the race for the leading goal kicker award in 2026, Favaro stamped her authority in the final round Rumba clash, with the huge haul taking the career ledger to 301, following Shepparton United’s Paige Baksh’s efforts to surpass the same milestone in June.
After rocketing away to five first half majors, Favaro learned of her chance at the half time huddle.
“My coach told me I only needed one more, I had no idea!” Favaro said.
“I went back out in the third quarter and missed my first shot, so I was just thinking ‘oh no, I’m not going to get it’.
“But one finally floated through and I just felt relieved.
“I was swarmed by my teammates which was great.”
Favaro has spent the last eight seasons in purple and gold, and has become the face of the women’s outfit, driving the club towards a premiership in 2022, spearheaded by her two goals in a best-on-ground effort in that decider.
Favaro yielded a return of 45 goals from 11 games that season, but 2026 has been her next best effort.
Kicking 34 on the year, when Favaro finds the goals, she finds them in bulk.
Across her 12 appearances this year, Favaro scored hauls of four or more goals on five occasions, including the aforementioned seven-goal feat against Rumbalara, and a mammoth 11-goal effort against the Shepparton Swans in round five.
After celebrating game 75 in Nathalia colours in June this season, the 300 career tally has cemented Favaro as one of the top Goulburn Murray forwards.
209 goals have come in Favaro’s time at Nathalia, an average of 2.7 per game in the GMWGL.
With a long love for the town and club, Favaro’s debts of gratitude are being welcomely paid off through booting Sherrins through the middle posts.
“I’ve been around Nathalia forever, and I always wanted to play my footy there if they ever got a team,” she said.
“It’s such a family club and full of great people and where I have made lifelong friends.”
The Purples won’t feature in this year’s finals series as playing numbers took an unfortunate toll, Nathalia admitting defeat via forfeit on three occasions.
But with talent like Favaro to steer the playing group in the right direction, the flourishing forward hopes the Purples will be back at full flight next season.
“I’ll be back next year,” she said.
“Hopefully we can get a few more girls and we’ll have a more consistent year.”
