After a three-goal loss to Euroa last week, the Cats have made full use of their double chance in a rout of Seymour at the Lions’ home court at King’s Park.
The Lions lamented Ash Lancaster’s brilliant shooting, with the tall goal shooter raining down 41 of the Cats’ 53 goals in the 53-35 win.
Mooroopna extracted an early advantage to quarter-time, leading 13-9, but any sniff of hope the Lions had at that time was shortly eradicated in the following terms.
Seymour would start the second term with belief, levelling the scores five minutes in, but the Cats would rally strongly to jump out to a double digit half time advantage, 30-20.
The third term was masterfully executed by Di Hanslow’s women, erupting for a 15-goal blitz while limiting the Lions to six goals for a 19-goal three-quarter-time lead.
With the game undoubtedly sewn up, the Cats rested on their laurels to take a smooth ride through to a preliminary final, Seymour closing the margin by one in the last for an 18-goal loss.
Meanwhile in Sunday’s double chance semi-final, Euroa is through to the grand final after beating Echuca 60-45.
Murray Bombers star goaler Sheridan Townrow was limited to 24 goals by Euroa’s goalkeeper Ellie Warnock, while Bec Colwell responded from a quieter qualifying final by shooting 54 of the Magpies’ 60 to advance Euroa to a third straight grand final.
Mooroopna and Echuca will do battle in a preliminary final next week to contest for the final remaining grand final spot.
