Rennie 32 defeated by Waaia 64
Holidays seemed to be in season with a few girls away this week. A tough game against a solid Waaia side saw their pressure overcome the Hoppers at stages.
Hannah Shoppee stood up and played a solid game in defence, while Jemma Adkins came in from under 17s and provided intense pressure playing WD.
Ella Rhodes worked tirelessly in GA alongside Brooke McDougall, who although injured, toughed out what ended up being a runaway win by Waaia.
Some much needed fitness will be required for some intense games in the future.

With quite a few girls away for the match the B Grade had to group together with lots of positional changes. Laynee Rhodes stepped up from under 15s to provide strong leads in attack and was a huge voice on the court.
Maddy Phibbs and Celine Collins-Bye played a great game in defence, while Laura Nunn came in from C grade and played great in attack.
Let’s keep improving and working on those key take aways each week.

C Grade
Rennie 24 defeated by Waaia 51.
The C Grade knew the well-polished team of Waaia would be a tall ask, but never the less the girls absolutely gave it their all. With most of the Hoppers defenders away Allison stepped into the team under enormous pressure and showed how resilient and strong she is.
The goalies in Soph, Laura and Shanae all stepped out of their comfort zone having a quarter each in defence and proved the depth of the team and what they can do when put their minds too it.
A relaxed Laura shot well all game and provided some guidance in the attacking end. Wishing Hayley a speedy recovery after a finger injury.
Awards: Miss Dolly - Laua Nunn, Yarra Hotel - Allison Thrumble, Bundalong Tavern - Georgie Thomas and Publican's Daughter - Sophie James.
C Res
Rennie 16 defeated by Waaia 34
Fantastic game by the Hopper ladies. Score doesn’t do the game justice. Lacey had a ripper day in the mid court. Sheryl couldn’t miss a shot if she tried. Jasmine and Ally gave 100% and did a great job in defence. Well done girls.
Awards: ClubMulwala - Lacey Stiles, One Zach - Allison Thrumble, Wingates Sports - Jasmine Burns and Mulwala Bakery - Amy Webber.
Under 17s
Rennie 48 defeated Waaia 22.
This week the girls had their first true taste of competition for the season. Waaia had great speed and physicality on the court, forcing the Hoppers to go back to basics, driving forward to the ball, keeping eyes up and having a go at some intercepts.
A huge whole team effort from the girls this week, every single player contributed and fulfilled the role they were given and it played off in a nice win. Bring on next week!
Awards: Ricky D's Pizza - Jemma Adkins, Rhodes Family - Abbey Coghill, Redback Waste - Grace Stephens and Mulwala Bakery - Ella Rhodes.
Under 15s
Rennie 29 defeated Waaia 21.
Coming into this week’s game, the girls were nervous but roaring to go. With a battle for top spot on the line, the girls wanted to go out with their best foot forward.
The first quarter showed some strength from the opposition leaving the Hoppers chasing from behind, until the second quarter when the Rennie spirit and determination switched on and the girls took the lead.
A huge team effort by all to keep the lead and by using their voices and keeping eyes up and on the ball, the Hoppers were able to come away with the win.
Awards: Rhodes Family - Laynee Rhodes, Jarobee Farms - Alani Peterson, Priority Fitness - Sophie Coghill and Mulwala Bakery - Violet Elliott.
Under 13s
Rennie 35 defeated Waaia 15.
Another win this week for the hard working Under 13s team. This week Waaia presented a tougher game, making the Hoppers girls work that bit more, especially in the last quarter.
However the defence both in the ring and down the court worked well putting double the effort in.
The patient shooters were spot on. They all worked well together. Awesome game girls, you should be very proud of yourselves!
Awards: Rhodes Family- Sienna Clarkson, Yarra Fish N Chips - Jamima Bruce, Rennie Catering - Charlotte Burrows and Mulwala Bakery - Mable Cope.
