Thats all for our coverage today, and with premiers celebrating, and the vanquished off commiserating, quiet has again fallen over Mooroopna Recreation Reserve.
To recap, Nagambie in senior football and Shepparton East in A-grade were the top flight winners for the day, while the likes of East and Tallygaroopna dominated proceedings in the lower netball.
Local winners were Rushworth’s 15-and-under, Stanhope’s under-15s and Lancaster’s reserves.

Lakers hold on
Nagambie has seen off a late challenge from Lancaster to be crowned premiers.
The Wombats’ inaccuracy late hurt their chances of a comeback.
Nick Ryan’s team kicked 3.9 in the fourth, as the more efficient Lakers ran out as 13.14 (92) to 11.19 (85) winners.

Liam Hockley has just missed a sitter for the Lakers which could’ve put them up by five goals.

Lancaster outscored Nagambie 32-15 in the third, suddenly only down 8.10 (58) to 10.12 (72) at three-quarter time.
Forward Coby O’Neill has led the comeback, booting three goals since half-time.

It got a little nervous in the fourth, down to two goals at times, but Lancaster closed out the reserves 10.8 (68) to 6.6 (42).
Player-coach Phillip Carroll was the Wombats best on in the flag win.
The under-11s are taking to the netball courts for a feature match ahead of the A-grade and senior finals.

Meanwhile, Lancaster’s reserves are a quarter away from defeating the Lakers in football, up 8.4 (52) to 5.6 (36) at three-quarter time.

Auld on under-15 flag
Stanhope under-15 coach Troy Auld was happy to see his side’s excellent 2026 capped off with a premiership.
“At under-15s level it’s not all about winning the grand final but it’s great to see them get some reward for their effort at the same time,” he said.

Starling on 15-and-under flag
Coach Sheree Starling has praised a composed performance from her Rushworth side to claim the 15-and-under netball flag.
“Its hard to describe really,” she said.
“You never know what the kids are going to bring on the weekend so to come out and play that well is pretty impressive.
“I knew they could, but when the pressure’s there and the crowd you can make a lot of mistakes as well so they were amazing.
“Our defence was fantastic, our shooters were on so really enjoyable.”

Lancaster is starting to take control of the reserves final.
After trailing 19-7 early in the second quarter, the Wombats have booted four majors in a row to suddenly lead 32-21.

Neither of the two local sides in the C-grade netball deciders won.
Girgarre went down 33-29 to Shepparton East, while Merrigum was thrashed 57-29 by Tallygaroopna.
Eagles goaler Kendall Guilmartin took out best on ground honours.
Lancaster’s reserves are underway in football, trailing Nagambie 2.1 (13) to 1.1 (7) at quarter-time.

Girgarre and Shepparton East are deadlocked at 21-21 ahead of the fourth period.
The Roos have battled back from a couple of minor deficits in a contest where both defences have held strong.

Girgarre is locked in an enthralling contest with Shepparton East, where the Eagles currently lead 19-18.
In football, Nagambie has won the under-18 premiership after thrashing Murchison.

On the netball court, Kade Starling was Rushworth’s best in the 15-and-under win.
The netball is continuing with Shepp East leading Tallygaroopna 18-15 at halftime in the 17-and-under, while Merrigum and Tally are locked at 3 early in the 13-and-under clash.

Rushworth have cruised to a dominant 59-27 win over Girgarre in the 15-and-under netball grand final.

Stanhope is eight minutes away from the under-15 premiership, up 55-20 against Tallygaroopna.
Forward Lachy King has five goals and the Lions are set to complete a perfect unbeaten season.

Rushworth has extended its lead against Girgarre to a whopping 27 goals, up 52-25 in the fourth period.

It’s three-quarter time between Stanhope and Tallygaroopna, with the Lions up 6.6 (42) to 2.2 (14).

Rushworth is on the cusp of the 15-and-under netball flag, leading Girgarre 41-22 at the end of the third period.
Meanwhile, Stanhope leads Tallygaroopna 42-14 in the third quarter of under-15 football.
Lions forward Lachy King has kicked four goals while defender Cooper Ribbons has shone with his intercept marking.

The first grand finals of the day are underway, as Stanhope takes on Tallygaroopna in the under-15 football and Rushworth and Girgarre battle in the 15-and-under netball.
The Tigers look to be romping towards the title, up 33-14 at halftime, while Stanhope has started well against Tally, ahead 4.2 (26) to 1.2 (8).
