The Bombers welcomed Shepparton United to town on Saturday, but the niceties were reserved for after the game as the hosts dealt to the Demons by order of a 14.16 (100) to 4.9 (33) result.
Kyabram is firmly cemented as the premiership favourite this season, and Saturday’s consummate performance gave every indication of a team gnashing its teeth with finals in mind.
United hit the scoreboard first, but the Bombers were largely unfazed, rallying back to produce a 5.5 first term that left the Demons trailing by 19 points at the first break.
By half-time, the game was rapidly slipping from the visitors’ grasp.
Aidan Robinson slotted two second quarter majors to complement Coby McCarthy and Archie Watt’s efforts, seeing the Bombers pull further ahead while holding the Demons scoreless.
A low-scoring third term saw Kyabram notch another two goals to United’s one, while another three majors in the last propelled the hosts to a fairly comfortable victory on home soil.
Charlie Barnett finished the match with four goals, taking his season tally to 44 which leaves him two adrift of the competition’s benchmark in Mansfield’s Billy Hogan and Benalla’s Nathan Wright.
McCarthy, playing his second senior game this season, booted three in a performance that had him named in his side’s best alongside the likes of Jack Russell and Zac Norris.
For United, Kade Chalcraft and Sheldon Bogdan stood out in defeat, while Jordan Loverso (two goals) was the only Demon to split the big sticks on more than one occasion.
Both sides now have the first half of the split round to rest before suiting up again, with Kyabram making the long haul journey to Mansfield, while United hosts Seymour at Deakin Reserve.
