The 19-year-old’s rapid rise saw her picked up by the Bombers during the pre-season after a season-ending injury to Brooke Brown opened the door for Ibrahim.
Known for her agility, ability to read the play and attacking brand of football, Ibrahim’s natural talent and versatility were key factors in Essendon bringing her into the squad.
Essendon AFLW general manager, Aysha Ward has praised her development and the impact she has made since joining the Bombers.
“Madi has been really impressive with the way she’s attacked every opportunity that’s come her way,” Ward said.
Ibrahim has not taken long to make her mark at the higher level, producing an impressive Round 5 performance against Casey.
The youngster collected 18 disposals, five tackles and a goal, showcasing her all-round ability and skill with the ball in hand.
The former Yarrawonga local was also strongly admired by Roos women’s coach Brad Nicholson, who was a big advocate for Ibrahim’s football talent.
Speaking to the Corowa Free Press last month, Nicholson highlighted her versatility and ability to impact the game from anywhere on the ground.
“You could play Madi anywhere on the ground and she would do well,” Nicholson said.
