The committee, life members, and players will convene at Barooga Reserve to decide if the club will apply for a transfer to the Picola league for the 2026 season, where it previously competed until 1988.
Junior player retention and similarities in population and geography with other Picola clubs are reportedly behind Barooga’s decision to sound out club members for the switch.
A substantial 75 per cent majority is required for approval, which would kickstart the application process and potentially see the PDFNL expand to 16 clubs, while reducing the MFNL to 11 teams.
An hour-long Q&A will be held ahead of the 7pm vote, which will be open to “financial members” - including players - and life members of the club.
“It's been pretty primarily preliminary at the moment,” Picola league operations manager Shane Railton said.
“Naturally enough, they've got to go to their vote.
“Once that's done, then we'll go through the other processes.”
Despite a winless 2025 season, Barooga secured O&M legend Craig Ednie as co-coach in June, with the club's promising junior ranks earmarked to drive future success.
The Hawks A-grade netballers also finished last but managed two wins.
