In round six, Moama continued to grow as a club as it took strongly to fellow league newcomers Shepparton Swans, moseying on by to record a 110-point landslide result.
Shepparton United faced a challenge on the road to Mansfield, but came up trumps in a low-scoring affair, 5.5 (35) to 1.2 (8), maintaining its spotless record to date.
Kate Dixon’s three goals earned her best-on in the clash, with regular goal sneaks Paige Baksh and Payten Johnston also finding the middle.
At Tatura Park on Sunday, the Bulldogs claimed their second win for the season and remain percentage outside the top four equation after a strong performance against Rumbalara.
In the 46-point win, a three-goal opening term set the pace for victory, with best-on-ground performer Maddy Andronaco kicking four for the game.
Nerissa Leitch and Dakoda Carpio were admirable in defeat for Rumba, as the girls in blue too sit just percentage outside of fourth with a two-win record.
In a titanic top-four clash to close out the round, a sharpshooting Cobram secured third on the ladder with an 11-point victory over Nathalia.
Kicking one behind from 10 scoring shots, Sasha Parish (four goals) and Charlotte Artavilla-Bennett (three) paved the path to a Tigers victory, with Abby Favaro’s four for Nathalia unable to heave the Purples home, the final scoreline 6.8 (44) to 9.1 (55).
Ruing missed shots on goal the Purples have put their top-four spot up for grabs as two blockbusters are scheduled for Friday night.
Shepparton United hosts Cobram in first versus third, while Nathalia travels to Moama for second versus fourth footy under lights.
Tatura is tasked with the Swans and Mansfield will host Rumbalara, so should the Purples lose to the second-placed Mowers on Friday, they will inevitably fall outside finals calculations by Sunday evening if Tatura, Mansfield or Rumbalara win, or if a draw occurs.
In the youth girls, Moama defeated the Swans 8.9 (57) to 2.1 (13), while Nathalia dismissed Cobram 4.9 (33) to 1.4 (10).
Round seven will be followed by a bye for the King’s Birthday weekend.
