On the back of its decision to cancel Tuesday’s midweek pennant action, Goulburn Murray Bowls Region has called off all Saturday pennant matches in the Goulburn Valley Playing Area.
It stems from fire safety concerns in the Longwood area, with the GVPA boasting sides from surrounding towns Euroa, Seymour, Avenel, Alexandra and Yea across its seven weekend pennant divisions.
The GMBR released a statement confirming this on Wednesday afternoon, with hopes of play resuming next week for midweek and midweek pennant.
Around the traps, other codes will return to the courts and ovals following last weekend’s cancellations.
Shepparton District Tennis Association launches into round 11 on Friday evening, while Goulburn Murray Lawn Tennis Association action – excluding the GM1 division – follows a day later.
GMLTA also released a statement to clubs noting that sadly some Euroa Lawn Tennis Club members had lost their homes due to fire, resulting in the decision to withdraw all Euroa teams from the weekend’s games.
Games involving teams from Euroa will be classed as draws.
Cricket Shepparton also resumes on Saturday, with a full slate of games.
Haisman Shield matches will be played in a one-day format, with premiership points counting towards the two-day ladder.
