With play postponed last week due to extreme weather throughout the region, division one players were eager to return to competition in round 11, perhaps none more than the 24 competitors on either side of the Shepparton Golf and Shepparton Park divide.
In the first meeting between the two sides since round four, which Golf won by 12 shots, Kris Ferguson’s quartet clinched a 16-14 win for the hosts, but it would be the only winning rink for the Golfers as Parkers’ skip Kate Bush snapped back to secure a four-shot victory.
However, it was the resounding 17-8 result for Noel Halden’s rink that inspired the Parkers to a 14-49 to 2-38 win, bringing them level with Golf on seven wins and moving within three points of the top perch..
At Euroa Bowls Club, East Shepparton staged an upset of the home club for its second win of the season.
The one-shot victory was spurred by Vern Wright (19-17) and Kevin Cox (18-15), while Euroa skip Shane Holmes secured a 21-17 win that ultimately went in vain as East Shepparton confirmed a 14-54 to 2-53 triumph.
Meanwhile, Seymour consolidated its place inside the top four with a convincing 16-63 to 0-44 victory over Seymour VRI, while Tatura Hill Top nabbed a 14-shot win over Tallygaroopna to pull the Redlegs two wins behind fourth.
