The Warriors were defeated in comprehensive fashion by the Average Joes in round three, condemning the reigning champions to a 1-2 start, however, Numurkah was quick to dust itself off.
Three rubber wins off the cuff set the tone for victory against Tatura, with the Grasscourt Snippers unable to better more than three games won in the first-to-eight sets.
The Grasscourt Snippers would sharpen their blades for the remaining sets of the match, with neither club able to win consecutive rubbers until the end, meaning Numurkah’s hot start was the difference maker.
Four of the remaining nine sets were tightly determined 8-6 or 8-7, but ultimately Tatura could not find a streak of set wins to upend the Warriors, losing 7-86 to 5-63.
News photographer Megan Fisher caught the early action of Shepparton Lawn rivals The Valley and the Average Joes’ clash.
