Around 180 golfers hit the luscious links for various competitions, culminating in Sunday’s men’s open championship, which was won by Numurkah’s Andrew Storer.
The local ace shot a one-under score of 71, beating runner-up Mitch Grandell by three strokes among a talented field of 60-plus players.
Organiser David Ludington said the tournament was enjoyed by all - especially his Numurkah team, who grabbed bragging rights over an old foe in a friendly head-to-head affair.
“We have a challenge grudge match every year with Chiltern, it’s been going for 40 odd years,” Ludington said.
“We ended up coming from six behind to nut ‘em in the second leg, which was a bit of fun and frivolity.
“They always have a big day, the Chiltern lads who come over on the bus, and they’re pretty well lubricated by the end.”
Ludington noted that while the post-COVID era has seen traditionally lower numbers at the tournament, its good-spirited nature and classic course conditions made for another belting installation of the event.
