From the morning’s dew-dwelling juniors to the premier afternoon action, the scores — and stakes — were high during round two of the Goulburn Valley Hockey Association.
A-grade men’s competition finally got under way following the past weekend’s forfeit and it delivered in spades as Strikers put Echuca Moama to the sword in a redraw.
Strikers’ 6-1 victory was carried by a four-piece from Timothy Russell, while Duncan Moodie and Timothy Allemand also hit the scoresheet for the side in red.
William Kerr was Echuca Moama’s sole scorer.
In B-grade, Iain Greig’s hat-trick whisked Shepparton Youth Club to a breezy 3-0 triumph over Strikers.
Across the junior divisions, more goal-heavy games were had as Goulburn Valley Grammar School Blue smacked a baker’s dozen past Echuca Moama in the under-15s, while GVGS trumped the River Rats 19-6 in the under-12s.
Women’s action was more tightly fought, with Strikers and SYC needling out a 0-0 draw.
Mooroopna’s Vic League Two side was at the bye, and will return to action against Craigieburn Falcons on Saturday.
