The Bulldogs won all three rinks in round eight’s 16-81 to 0-49 triumph at the East Shepparton greens, with Seth Tziros’s quartet producing an 18-shot result to lay the platform for their first division one victory.
Meanwhile, Euroa’s 10-shot win over ladder-leading incumbent Shepparton Golf has turned the screws at the top of the order.
Two rinks went down to the wire; Shane Holmes’ four signed off a tight 15-13 win, while the Tony Kinga-skipped rollers stole a shot on the final end to score a 16-all draw against Golf’s Kris Wright.
That left Ken Sutcliffe’s quartet to bring home the win, and deliver they did.
An eight-shot victory handed Euroa a 15-57 to 1-47 result and second spot on the ladder, usurping Shepparton Park.
The Park was defeated by Seymour VRI to the tune of 15 shots, with Joseph Purcell (28-9) and Moreno Puppa (25-19) dealing the damage for the finals aspirant.
They’re now firmly in the battle for fourth alongside Tallygaroopna and Seymour, with the Redlegs hosting the latter in a pivotal clash at Tallygaroopna Bowls Club.
The result indicated that the reigning premier is far from a spent force, drawing within half a game of Tuesday’s opponent in fourth spot.
The first set of ends led by David Daws proved the difference, producing a 28-16 win as the other two rinks went down to the wire.
Tally’s Joey Lia (20-19) and Seymour’s Russell Locke (21-13) struck a blow for their clubs, but it was the Redlegs, 14-61 to 2-56, who walked away happy, and will look to move one more spot up the rung before the competition breaks for Christmas.
