An economical five-for from Karramomus’ Lachie Keady has the Bloods well and truly on top after day one of its round 10 Cricket Shepparton Haisman Shied clash with the Lodgers, setting up what could be a day two finished by the early afternoon next weekend.
It took just four balls for Keady to open his account with a swinging red Kookaburra, hitting Liam Trevaskis on the pads right in front of the stumps to send the Lodgers opener packing for nought.
Hayden Cann and Travis Knight would be staunch at the crease momentarily, before Blood Zac Newbound too pitched it up to trap Cann LBW, as Keady then caught the edge of Knight, which was promptly taken by relation Toby Keady with the gloves.
Pine Lodge’s Dylan Hardy and Darshana Prasad Loku Hettige both dug deep to forge out commendable starts with the willow, but it was Zac Groombridge who ended their time in the middle, with Hardy caught in the field for 26 while Loke Hettige was pinned LBW for 32.
Karramomus was made to work to finish off the tail, however, with Ryan Kearney and Karan Saini persisting for 14 overs without loss before the pair fell within six balls of one another.
Saini’s exit left the Lodgers nine down, and two balls into the 55th over, Keady would claim his fifth wicket and end Pine Lodge’s innings at 144.
Karramomus bowler Zane Newbound celebrates.

As Karramomus strapped on the pads and marked middle stump, it took the Bloods no time to start chipping chunks off the total set by the green and gold.
Despite the low target score and the additional 22 overs in hand, the Bloods have already begun racing towards victory.
11 fours from Mitchell McGrath has the opener on 55 not out at stumps, while Zavier Davidson and Declan Newboud made a quick fire 19 and 22 to race towards the total.
The Bloods sit at 3-99 after 22 overs, going at a run rate of 4.5 per over, and now require just 46 runs on day two to seal the win - and potentially seal its spot in the top six.
Bloods coach Nathan Jones was rapt with his side’s intent and avoidance of complacency against the bottom of the ladder Lodgers.
“It’s always a danger game against a side that hasn’t won yet because they’ll be looking for a scalp,” Jones said.
“We had to have a good attitude and positive intent, so I’m really pleased with our position.
“With the batting, if you got it past the in-field it was pretty much four, so we had the intent to get as many runs as we could with the extra overs we earned because you never know what might change on day two.
“Mitchell McGrath was outstanding, he’s vital for our side when he’s up and going and he played to the conditions perfectly.”
THE GAME SO FAR
