From Thursday to Sunday, the front fields of Shepparton Sports City transformed into a melting pot of middle eastern culture as the third edition of the Iraqi Golden Cup took centre stage.
Local side Al Janoob went all the way, defeating Iraqi Lions 3-0 in the grand final thanks to an emphatic first half showing on Sunday evening.
Hassan Al Hilfi and Abbas Matoory found the back of the net in the opening exchanges, while a further goal that came off a Lions player effectively sealed the deal by the break.
Al Janoob goalkeeper Abdul Tarsha was bestowed grand final man of the match honours, while teammates Abdullah Farhood and Al Hilfi were named the tournament’s best player and top scorer respectively.
News photographer Megan Fisher was on hand to snap the Iraqi Golden Cup opener between Al Janoob and Khaybar.
