In the Eastern Football Netball League, Seymour product and former AFL full forward Josh Schache currently leads the race with 53 majors from 14 games.
Schache was delisted by the Melbourne at the close of the 2024 AFL campaign, and rather than seek opportunities within the top flight, the 199cm tall chose to sign for Doncaster East in the EFNL nine months ago.
This season has been somewhat of a career revival for 2015 second round draft pick Schache, who went on to play for Brisbane, Western Bulldogs and the Demons.
His haul of six against Mitcham at the weekend lifted him four clear of East Ringwood’s Josh Fox in second.

Former Kyabram Bomber Toby Wooller is among the top four, boasting an elite per-game return with 31 goals from just eight games for Blackburn.
Wooller also comes from elite stock, taken at pick 41 by Brisbane in the 2017 AFL Draft.
Though he never featured in the AFL, the 26-year-old was a part of the club’s premiership-winning side in the NEAFL in 2020.
Wooller joined Kyabram for the 2023 GVL campaign, kicking seven goals in 21 games for the Bombers.
