Across the lower grade divisions two through six, five respective bowls clubs secured flags, two of which were underdog risers on the grand occasion.
In division two, Shepparton Park - one of three teams from the club that would reach the decider in the lower grades - played Seymour at Euroa bowls club and secured a 12-shot win in the decider.
Shepparton Park snuck by in the first rink 23 shots to 18, but it was a second rink led by Bree Warren that proved why it deserved to be both minor and overall premiers.
Warren led Shepparton Park to a 30-shot to 12 rink win, and while the third rink went the way of Seymour, Shepparton Park had done enough to secure the win in the fourth, 16-87 to 2-75.
However, that would be the only Shepparton Park triumph on grand final day, as Euroa would come up trumps in division three.
All it took was one blitz in the rink for the underdog Euroa side to pull off its famous victory, winning just the second rink in the match, but its 15-shot buffer produced a large enough gap that Shepparton Park couldn’t chase down.
A Bruce Tully-led rink one saw Shepparton Park narrowly take the first 16 shots to 15, before Euroa’s Annette Barkley led her side to a 24 to nine shot rink win.
Shepparton Park would then win the remaining rinks by five and four shots respectively, but it wasn’t enough to reverse the lead back in its favour, Euroa defeating the division three ladder-leaders 14-77 to 4-70.
Shepparton Park’s division four side would face the same unfortunate fate after topping the table this season, albeit its loss was in far more comprehensive fashion.
Second-placed Dookie burst out the gates to a 23-shot rink win, and it was the defining period of the match.
Shepparton Park closed the buffer in two of the next three rinks, while winning the third itself, but the sluggish start secured Dookie a division four premiership, 16-96 to 2-65.
In division five, Colbinabbin defeated Murchison in a three-rink match 14-66 to 2-56, avenging its previous loss to Murchison in round five, while in division six, Avenel claimed a two-rink match win over Mooroopna Golf 14-42 to 0-30.
